DIPSLIDES SAMPLING PROCESS

WHAT ARE DIPSLIDES USED FOR?

Microbiological dipslides are plastic paddles coated in ready to use agar (prepared culture media) and are used for microbiological monitoring of a surface or liquid. Each agar tests for a different group of micro organisms and will show growth if a particular contaminant is present in a sample.

WHAT SAMPLES CAN BE TESTED?

A wide variety of samples can be tested using microbiological dipslides. Some examples of commonly tested samples include:

  • Environmental surfaces

  • Water samples

  • Food hygiene monitoring

  • Milling/Industrial oils

  • Medical/Dental monitoring samples

DIPSLIDE CATEGORIES

Here at Dimanco Ltd. we have a range of different types of dipslides. All of which are designed to meet specific sample requirements and target organisms. Our main categories are;

  • Generic Dipslides - mainly used for TVC's, tend to cover a large range of organisms.

  • Selective Dipslides - more specialist Dipslides which focus on the detection of specific organisms of interest.

WHO CAN USE OUR DIPSLIDES?

Any one is able to use our Dipslides. No special training is required to use our Dipslides and everything from the process to the results is included on a leaflet within the box. If further assistance is needed, feel free to contact us directly and we will be happy to assist.

FLUID SAMPLING

A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO USING DIPSLIDES FOR FLUID SAMPLING

(please note all operating instructions, including results interpretation information are enclosed in each box of Dipslides for your convenience)

1.  Remove the dipslide from the tube and immerse in the fluid for approximately 10 seconds.

2.  Remove from fluid and allow to drain for a few seconds. Then replace the slide in the tube and incubate for 24-48 hours. Details of specific product incubation requirements are listed in a table at the bottom of this page.

3.  At the end of the period of incubation, read the results against the growth comparison chart and interpretation table provided.

SURFACE SAMPLING WITH DIPSLIDES

A surface may look clean whilst still harbouring thousands of viable bacteria which will multiply rapidly. Regular cleaning is essential in all areas where foodstuffs are processed or handled. It is also important to check that the cleaning process is effective. Dipslides are the ideal method of monitoring surface hygiene, being specifically designed for ease of use.
Dimanco contact slides are an excellent visual aid in training programmes and the these slides were formulated with the food industry in mind. They determine both Total viable counts and Coliform counts.

2. Turn the contact slide over and repeat the procedure with the second side. Replace the slide in the tube and incubate for a minimum of  24 hours. Details of specific product incubation requirements are listed in a table at the bottom of this page.

Dipslides are available in a comprehensive range of formulations for the detection of common groups of bacteria. Dimanco diagnostic slides are made in a sterile environment with purpose-built machinery. Rigid quality control measures ensure a uniform agar-fill giving flat, even surface for a reliable result every time. All slides are inspected individually before being released for sale.
